zzz HEMING Folio Case for iPad

Ever felt that you love your iPad, but hate those covers?  Well, we did too, and went to create something that we all could love.

ELEGANT LEATHER, CLASSIC DESIGN, FUNCTIONAL FEATURES

The precise design, functional features and genuine leather - the perfect combination for an elegant iPad case

DESIGN+FUNCTION

We were particular that every form should follow a function. This DESIGN+FUNCTION approach was made possible by list of critical features and functions that we should keep and ones we shouldn't. We packed HEMING with all the features we wanted , and took out everything we dislike. We chose the most elegant material that could be used- natural full grain leather. We then hand-stitched it with techniques adopted from western saddle making. The end result is an incredibly sleek, functional and elegant leather folio cover.

MULTIPLE MODES. WITHOUT HINGES OR PIVOTS

The innovative articulated design of HEMING allows it to be used in several modes- journal mode, wide screen mode, and vertical mode. In vertical mode, HEMING folds to form a handle, making it easy to hold.

1 DESIGN. 3 VARIANTS. 3 SHADES

The basic design is used to create HEMING variants of various generations of iPads. We made appropriate changes for the varying sizes and features such as the secondary mic and the modified wake/sleep sensors in newer generation iPads. The prototypes for each variant were then made and validated to ensure full compatibility.

SLIM PROFILE WITH EDGE PROTECTION

HEMING is slim. Thanks to the rigidity and durability of natural leather and an innovative design, HEMING adds only 0.26 inches to the thickness of iPad. Even with this slim profile the saddle stitched edges of HEMING helps protect the edges and corners. This is one this folio cover packed with features to enhance your iPad experience.

FULL COVERAGE, ALL AROUND

HEMING is developed with a triple layer front cover. The leather outer and the impact absorbing layer help protect the most vulnerable part of iPad- the display glass screen. The inner soft suede surface shields the optical coatings on the display. The front cover also embeds the magnetic circuits for latching and auto wake/sleep sensing functions. Due to its complex functions, it took us several months to perfect the font cover.

ALL ACCESS, OPEN DESIGN

We did not want anything to come between you and your iPad. Every port, buttons and switches is accessible with HEMING- even when the front cover is closed. The display screen, the home button and even the edges and kept open.

AUTO LATCHING WITH  SLEEP/ WAKE FUNCTION

We wanted HEMING to have a sleek look without buttons, latches or hinges that takes away from the clean look of iPad. So we incorporated the magnetic latch system to keep cover shut. When you want to close the cover, just bring the front cover closer to the iPad and..click - the magnetic latch keeps the cover closed until you open it.

HEMING has another magnetic circuit that activates the sleep/wake function with the cover is shut. The optimally positioned sensing magnets work with the latching and alignment magnets to ensure the auto sleep and wake function works every time. This is not just a cool feature,  the sleep/wake function conserves battery charge and keeps the iPad running longer between charges.

LATCH AT A COMFORTABLE SCREEN ANGLE

For those of us who use the iPad in wide screen mode we added a latching magnetic system to keep the screen at an optimal angle. We studied a variety of configurations  and then optimized the screen angle at 110 degrees. Of course, the screen can be kept at almost any angle you desire but the latching prevents slippage.

GECCO SUCTION GRIP SYSTEM

We developed one a kind bonding methodwhat we call the GECCO Suction Grip System. GECCO does not use any adhesive for bonding. It is formed with an acrylic base with millions of tiny cells to develop adhesion forces to surfaces such as aluminum. These forces improves over time, to develop a stronger bond. Lack of adhesives eliminates contamination issues or loss of adhesion with humidity and temperature.

Removing GECCO from a system is even easier, just peel off from the surface and there is no residue. In the event GECCO is contaminated, just wipe it with a clean swab with alcohol and GECCO is back to normal. This makes GECCO reusable several times, in the event iPad need to be taken off HEMING. Though it worked well in initial trails, we had to test and prove it multiple times before we decided to use in HEMING (see video below).X
