Traditionally, horse saddles had been made by hand sewing thick layers of leather together with strong, durable stitches. Even though this crafting method required time and effort, the saddles thus made endured harsh conditions and lasted a lifetime. DaVarg follows the same tradition of saddlecrafting to create exceptional leather articles.

Transforming authentic leather into elegant articles involves four basic operations. From exacting designs, leather is cut, bent, and formed. It is then stitched and assembled with hardware. The finishing operation also involves burnishing the edges and coating it with matte edge finish.

SINGLE THREAD AND TWO NEEDLES
DaVarg articles have the signature contrast stitching made from high-strength synthetic bonded thread that does not fade easily when exposed to the elements. The thick thread and the contrast color ensure that the stitching complements the leather's character.
Saddle stitching
Saddle stitching is a method of hand sewing that is stronger and more durable than machine stitching. Two needles pass through the leather in opposite directions creating a stitch that is tightly woven and difficult to break. Saddle stitching is done by hand which allows for greater precision and control than machine stitching resulting in a cleaner, more finished look. The use of thicker thread contribute to the strength and durability of saddle stitching.
DURABLE STITCHES
Lock stitching made by sewing machines has an inherent fault since the top and bottom threads cannot criss cross. If a thread break, the top or bottom thread can be unravel easily compromising the entire stitch length. In saddle stitching, crisscrossing of thread ensures that the leather layers and pulled in together. If the thread breaks it does not allow the entire stitching to unravel the stitching.
